Does your training have a purpose?
Let’s say you’re on the right track to athletic and training success.
You train hard, work out when you need to, do what your coaches say, etc.
What does your workout look like?
Does everything you do serve a purpose? Better yet, are there things you COULD do that serve that purpose more efficiently, or that serve MANY important “purposes” at once?
Hint: if you’re doing calf raises and you aren’t a bodybuilder, YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME!!!
I still don’t understand why the hell ANY athlete would do calf raises at all… yet it seems like something that gets done (unezplainably) more often than staples like squats, deadlifts, or jumps.
Let’s work backwards—what are you trying to do with calf raises? Get bigger calves? Why? Jump higher or run faster? Please… Hit a weighted box jump or SPRINT for crying out loud!!!
Let’s get this straight, if you are a athlete, there are HUNDREDS of things you do that #1 “work your calves” more efficiently and effectively than calf raises and #2 will get you faster/stronger/more athletic THOUSANDS of times faster than calf raises.
Enough with the calf raises. Seriously. If you’re wasting your time on those you need a workout or a new coach.
