Tired of life below rim? Want to find out how to jump higher? Read below…
If you’re a basketball player, whether as a weekend warrior in pickup games or on your high school or college team, you want a few things: you want to dunk, play above the rim, and block your buddy’s and opponent’s shots with authority.
You want to be the guy that shocks the taller dude you’re guarding as you soar above him for the rebound, have an unblockable jumper, and just flat out some impressive hops.
We’ve all been forced to watch in awe of the guys who seemingly effortlessly float above the rim for the dunk or over us for rebounds, and it sucks.
Or, just as bad, getting “Mossed” on the football field because you didn’t have the hops to go get the ball at it’s highest point.
It’s time that comes to an end.
It’s time to get YOU into that next stratosphere of jumping ability.
No more “You’re just taller than me”, “you just have longer legs”, “it’s because I’m white”, “I ate fast food”, “I’m not wearing my good jumping shoes”, “it’s a Monday and I can’t jump on monday”, and whatever other excuses you’ve come up with over the years. You just suck at jumping.
Over the course of the next few weeks we’re gonna fix that with the “How to jump higher for the vertically challenged” series. This is for the guys that WEREN’T the naturally highest jumpers. The guys that couldn’t dunk without any training (let alone grab the rim), and the guys that have been on the bad side of blocked shots for years.
I’ve been there, too.
As a former posterboy for the “un-athletic” and “overachievers”, I could barely flick the rim on the run at a height of 6’1″/6’2″. My vertical jump was a measely 22 inches. But I eventually worked my way into a 36 inch vertical jump in college…
Here’s a hint: don’t take jumping advice from Michael Jordan. MJ had a GREAT work ethic and is one of my favorite athletes of all time, but he could have jumped out of the gym without ever touching a weight.
If you’re like MJ, congratulations. I’m not, and I’m going to help those that DON’T have that natural ability compete, train, and SOAR above the rim 🙂
