Anthony Robles is the MAN.
You want to talk about inspirational? How’s this to light your fire: Robles, a senior wrestler at Arizona State, won the 2011 NCAA championships in wrestling.
With one leg.
What the hell have you done with TWO???
I’ll be 100% up front with you: watching this guy do the things he has done has made it clear to me that I haven’t done even close to enough MYSELF. Sure, I train my ass off, I take care of my eating and supplementation, and study my sports and training methods to improve myself, but I haven’t done CLOSE to enough.
Robles took something most probably see as a handicap and a weakness and leveraged it into one his biggest assets: his upper body strength and power is FAR above the level of those in his weight class and probably exceeds that of MUCH heavier wrestlers.
This took tons of time, dedication, and steel will. Robles didn’t start off as a winner, but he was determined to be great and, years later, he ends his wrestling career as undefeated champion of the NCAA.
What about YOU? What are YOUR weaknesses? Do you feel sorry for yourself in basketball games and make excuses because you’re short?
“If only I was taller, smarter, this or that… I’d be this much better.. I could do it…”
What if Robles had taken that attitude? “If only I had a right leg…” Where would he be now?
The dude ran a mile in his crutches!!! Then dropped his time from 10 to 8 minutes by the end of that year! SICK dedication!
Take a page out this SUPER inspirational athlete’s playbook, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and build strengths out of whatever you think your weaknesses are.
